I want My MTV

Just a short post this time to say mega-thanks to Thriftshop XL who came up with these videos in between becoming a dad for the first time ...

Smart Systems

Time was that I used to listen to very little except the work of Dougan & Cobain: under their Future Sound Of London guise, their track "Cascade" got a little lost at the time due to it being buried in a either a superb album or single that was comprised of an album length's of variations. It remains however to be quite simply stunning.
I've tried not to vary too far from the original: just toughened up the percussion and added some spot bass and effects. Hope you enjoy!

(Back) 2 (The) Future 4 U

From stolen hub-caps to stolen cars in one post.... Listening to a lot of Armand Van Helden just now - nobody knows basslines quite like he does, especially in the speed garage days. Anyway, way back he released what amounted to a loop of Gary Numan's "Cars" as "Koochy". One of the stupidist, and therefore most enjoyable tracks he ever released if truth be told. Structurally it was all over the place though (which may have been the point). This is a little re-edit I've done - nothing fancy at all, but if nothing else a reminder of how much fun a loop can be.

To Cap It All

So, if you live in or around Aberdeen and fancy something to do on a Saturday afternoon this weekend, you could come along to see, erm, a load of hubcaps. Hehe. No - seriously an interesting group of thiefs / artists (every poet is a thief as, erm, Bono once said afterall) are featured in exhibition in the Peacock gallery. And then I'll be there also telling you how you can make a bootleg. You can even steal a cd from me if I get them all burned in time.
