Alltogether Ooky.

3rd in a series of, erm, 7 probably. Have to make sure the Sunday edition's a hip hop one I guess in homage to Cypress Hill. Minimal vocals in this although there are vocal / bootleg versions of some of these tracks kicking around in my hard drive just now - you'll just have to wait.

Games Without Frontiers

Tec House. Much maligned genre innit. I like it though. If you like it you may like this next little booty. Cirez D (aka Eric Prydz) meets Kerri Chandler ... I did a vocal version also but to be honest, I think I'm keener on the version without the vox. Sometimes words are just not required.

Do My Thang ...

It's been a while hasn't it. Me bad. West Of has been and gone, as has an unscheduled repeat appearance at Club GYBO in Glasgow. I've done quite a few boots but you would have to have been looking hard to catch them. Must try harder. Anyway, another day, another M*ssy *ll**t boot ...

Totally Random Man

For the life of me I can't decide whether Madonna's new single is genuis or garbage - I just feel that both she and producer Stuart Price (aka Les Rhythmes Digitales) can and have done better in the past. I do look forward to listening to the new album however.

Over on Pop Justice however there's a really funny critique on it meantime. Me - I just stick someone else's vocal on top. Thankyou for the music Ms Stefani...

And a little reminder for you ... book your hotels now for a late night session at West Of Bastard on Friday 4th November in Bristol. Looks like it's going to be a good one fo' shoal.

Watchin' Roaches, Climb The Walls

There's a cheeky booty breaks track called Spin Spin Sacharine kicking around just now. It leans pretty heavily upon the Armand Van Helden rub of the Sneaker Pimps' Spin Spin Sugar but toughens it up without tarnishing what is regarded (at least in my house) as a classic.

What's more encouraging though is this track and the Sneaky Pimps other bootleg (Gonna Be Big - same idea, different Van Helden remix as a source) are maybe nudging breaks to lean more towards the big speed garage basslines of many moons ago. It's perhaps a step backwards, but in this case it's no bad thing cos it's putting the fun back into what was becoming quite a predictable genre.

So, inspired by said record, another boot appears. Using the Armand Van Helden remix of Spin Spin Sugar, adding a generous portion of Sean Paul and then re-editing the whole thing with the help of a res filter and some virtual sellotape we have a radio-friendly-unit shifter. Possibly. It's all in the bass.

One other thing - track down the Sneaker Pimp's version of The Prodigy's Firestarter. It's glorious.

Snot Bad.

Get Busy was a bit of a revelatory experience - I had forgotton how much I really enjoyed the dirrrrty beats of a good tec-house or breaks track so although I had been hesitant to finish this track off, I suppose there was really no better excuse.

London did however kill my immune system. Really suffering, so just hope I'm feeling OK for tomorrow's Club GYBO. Meantime, to try and clear my head, I thought I'd put down a very quick set of the kinda stuff I played at Get Busy.

  • Download No Longer Available !

Spirit of '88

So Bastard 88 came and went. As did Get Busy. Can honestly say haven't had as much fun in ages. Hoping I get the chance to play both of them again soon. If any of you Londoners miss either in the future, you're fools I tells ya, fools. Next stop ..... Club GYBO

Back Once Again!

And another new website arrives. Had some major difficulties over the last week or so which are gradually getting ironed out.

Meantime, Aggro1 and I have both released versions of the same mash up (to be fair though, it was his idea, my version is just a different spin)

Go grab it over on the right!

A few dates for your diary then.

And one final note - don't forget you can contact contact me for dj dates / remixes and reposts at any time.

Less Is Less ...

Quite possibly the shortest tune I've done in a while. Just A vs B. Go Grab it on the right ....

Dun Splits The Atom*

*with apologies to MC Tunes natch ...

So ... I don't post anything here for a while, and you think I've been lazy ? I wish ... more news to follow but meantime have a look at all this ...

Atom kindly asked me to remix one of his forthcoming tracks - Uncorrelated Objects. Got to say it's been probably the most difficult challange I've worked on to date. I'll let you be the judge if it was successful. What's even cooler though is he's subsequently put the individual parts online for everyone to have a go themselves. Atom's beats are most definitely worth checking also if you're into house in a minimal jack groove stylee. Go grab it on the right !

The King Of The Beats

A lot of people wrote off Fischerspooner after that first album. Go buy their new album, Odyssey - it's ace. More than a little Pink Floyd influence can be heard, especially in the track Never Win - one of the highlights from the album. Liberty X meanwhile also proved themselves to be more than I initially thought. Look over on the right for a little mixup then ....

*only two bonus points if you can work out the link between the tune and the title of the post here...

Those lovely people over at Spoilt Victorian Child asked me if I'd like to have a go at remixing the upcoming group Bedtime For Toys . Go grab the Dunproofin' remix on the right then go visit Spoilt Victorian Child for the Empire State Human, Palace Lido and Original mixes ...

Let Me Show You.

Jackson 5 meet Fatboy Slim: there's also another little ditty which would be the wonderful Voodoo Trombone Quartet jamming with the equally wonderful Hardfloor.

Oh ... and keep the weekend 8th - 9th October free if you're in London .... more news to follow.

Intergalactic Punk Rock Hip Hop*

Had some techie difficulties, hence no text for a while, so meantime here are two new ones for you ... fiddy and the futureheads meet up in quite an odd one, and there's also a dash of the velvet underground meeting radio 4. Got to say thanks to the good people at spoilt victorian child for blogging this also. Go visit them - there's always something worth listening and more importantly something worth reading there.

*ten bonus points to the first person to spot the lyric

What 'cha Wan' ?

Gonna be a busy couple of weeks - there's a long form mix on the way, and possibly another one after that, but meantime Mia goes acid house and Outkast go 2 step - eyes right!

Friday, May 13, 2005

So in the ongoing effort to put out some material that's been clogging my hard drive over the last few months, here's some of the finest french acid house known to man. And a little vocal from England. Anyway. Go and download it over on the right, and then go and buy Super Discount 2 - c'est incroyable!

There's No Other Way.

Struggled with this one for a while actually, but in an effort to clear some hardrive space for some other stuff, I'm gonna stop faffing arounf so much with tracks and get 'em out. Sweet Northern Soul on this one - a different vibe from the version everyone knows of tainted love, but still pretty cool in my book. Yeah yeah yeah, it's just over there ->

Erm, a nice little project this one. This started about 4 months ago and finally came together last week. I'm very chuffed with it - it sounds very nice indeed. Better get yourself over to

And meantime a little DJ Tool for you - just over on the right.

Say Yes Or Say No

A very quick one for you - Somebody of The Wild West is the sound of Roni Size and Aaliyah together. Big news shortly for y'all though.

Sunday, April 10, 2005

Lets ... Get Started.

Been a busy few days ... working on a track which is just about ready for the wide world ... more of that soon. Meantime here's one I'm really quite fond of .... slowed down breaks of DJ Hyper & Dylan Rhymes meet the smart, erm, rhymes of Lady Sov. Something different from either of the original versions (and I know I've changed Sov's flow....). Over yon border, seek and ye shall find ....

Show Me The Ropes Kids ...

Yes, again I find myself creating another monster instead of working on the tracks I'm supposed to be working on. I love the sound that deadlines make as they woosh overhead.... Look, look over there, it's James & Janet jamming ...

You Can Get This Track Here For Free ....

Supposed to be working on a couple of long term projects, so inevitably I start something completely different. Eyes right ....

Outta Site ...

Stevie Wonder's Uptight meets The Clash's Rock The Casbah is on your right hand side. Big Up Boom! for hosting.

Meantime and understandably, my previous hosts ahve been forced to stop providing the wonderful free service they provided. Normal service will be resumed as soon as possible - meantime don't forget you can e-mail me (cast your eyes down) if you really really need any of the tracks featured on the right hand side and I'll try to help you out best I can.

Wednesday, March 02, 2005

Just a quick note ... curiosity being the thing that it is leads me to sometimes catch blog comments / reviews of some of the tracks I post. I love feedback (who doesn't?) but I perhaps sometimes don't make it clear what the purpose of these tracks are ... well basically there is no purpose other than fun on my part and a little enjoyment perhaps on the listeners. A good example is popdirt. No - these mashups are not authorised. The majority of these tracks involve little other than a vocal which the artist themselves has usually put out for public consumption and a backing track hacked from another artist, preferably genre completely. The trick is getting the two to splice together fairly coherently.

I do not make any money from anything that is published here - the blurb down at the base of the page it states quite clearly how to contact me if you have legitimate right to want removal of any particular track. Most artists see this kind of thing as publicity, but at the end of the day I respect their right to make a living.

And yes, Jennifer Lopez is dull, The Human League are dour and I am Peter Pan.

Rant finished.

Oh Dad She's Driving Me Mad ....

First up, don't forget this Friday you can stay at home and watch tv, or if you're in London you can get yerself along to Get Busy! where I'll be playing bootleg style breaks and dance tracks for a while. Come say hello!

Something you won't hear there however are these three new Anderson-flavoured boots ... look, just over there ......

Friday, February 18, 2005

Who Will Have Won ?

Go and buy any of the Human League's multuitude of "best of" compliations if you don't know their material. This uses probably the most un-league song they recorded. But it's also one of their best. Guitars ?

Hourses For Courses

Justin. CJ. Gerald. Dunproofin'. More of a remix than a bootleg but there's a large bassline which some people may recognise. And don't forget to have a look at culture deluxe since you're surfing just now. News of gigs to follow ...

Thursday, January 20, 2005

Paris Or London ?

London this time actually. Hopefully news of a gig or possibly two in March very shortly. Meantime, thanks to XFM for playing out don't call me rocker a few weeks ago on The Remix. Look - it's over on the right ;)
And another new one for you - just something quick and a little different. Enjoy !

Wednesday, January 12, 2005

A quick one for you - crusty techno of eat static meets the smooth r&b of mark morrison ... eyes right!

Rock Your Body Rock

Daft Punk's new album was a bit of a letdown on first listen to be honest, but I'll give it some time as the first single, Robot Rock, didn't really grab me at first either. Love it now though. Anyway, my takes on the single are here for y'all - be warned though Daft Punk almost certainly would not like it.

Meantime, if you're in London around 4th March you could do worse than check out Get Busy! Looks like it will be a blast.

No Peroxide Involved.

Can you tell I'm cleaning out the hard drive yet ?
2004 was a good year - several global radio plays (Washington, Prague, London, Paris, Amsterdam that I know of), some good pick ups on some blogs and some good times also with the gigs.
2005 ? More of the same and more so I hope. Watch this space for updates. Don't forget, you can e-mail me anytime for further info or requests!
